Rapids Loan Watch: Ford Unhappy As San Antonio Slip Up
Updated: Oct 22, 2021
Referee Michael Radchuk was a busy boy on Wednesday night as 14 different players were shown yellow cards, one was also shown a red, as Kortne Ford’s San Antonio FC succumbed at Mountain Division rivals New Mexico United in the USL Championship.
Ford was one of those shown a yellow card and took to social media afterwards such was his frustration on a frustrating night for San Antonio.
They had led 2-1 before Ollie Wright was dismissed for a second yellow card, allowing the home side to score three unanswered goals for a 4-2 win.
Playoff-bound San Antonio have two home games to complete their regular season, starting with Austin Bold FC this coming Saturday. They finish on October 30 when Colorado Springs Switchbacks are the visitors.
The Switchbacks play this Friday, and sit third in the Mountain Division but level on points with second-placed San Antonio. A win for them at Real Monarchs SLC would make for a mouth-watering final weekend in Texas. (STANDINGS)
Elsewhere on Wednesday, another Rapids homegrown product, Oliver Larraz, started and played 61 minutes for San Diego Loyal in their 1-0 loss at Orange County, for whom Dillon Powers patrolled the midfield.
The defeat for San Diego means they remain second in the Pacific Division but are now only one point ahead of Orange County with two games remaining. Both teams have already secured their spot in the playoffs.
